Do This, Not That: Airbnb Design Tips
Looking for ways to make your Airbnb a stand-out? You’ve come to the right place! Designing a great space is a really great way to get repeat guests and bookings. Over time and through experience in the industry, we have learned a little about the do’s and dont’s of design, and we are happy to share our thoughts with you in the hopes that you can create a profitable Airbnb rental.
Do: Use greenery to echo the plants of the outdoors. For instance, if your Airbnb
is in a desert climate, maybe have some aloe plants or broad leaf foliage that
reflects the uniqueness of the area.
Do: Make your Airbnb themed. Think about things that make the area unique. Is
it an artsy hub? Is it by the beach? Or nestled in the heart of the city? Embrace
that with design. Guests want to feel the vibe of the area when they get to their
vacation destination. You can do that, and have fun doing it! Some ideas for this
might include artwork of area attractions, furniture that reflects the styles of the
area, maybe a painted mural of a local scene. This doesn’t have to be on a grand
scale, the little things really count!
Do: Buy books and guest guides about the area that can help to guide your
guests on adventures during their stay. If your Airbnb is near a wildlife refuge for
animals, maybe provide some coffee table books about the animal species in the
area, or area hikes and observation points.
Do: Use a professional photographer to capture the photos for advertising. The
photos should be as crisp and clear as possible, and optimized for online
publishing. Stage the property before photos so that everything looks clean and
minimalist. Hide cords and plug-ins out of view of photos.
Don’t: Make extra work for your guests. Install a dishwasher so that guests don’t
have to hand wash dishes on their vacation.
Don’t: Have inconsistency in design throughout the place. Furniture should be
minimalist and flow from room-to-room. The kitchen counters should be clear of
all clutter except for a few small items.
By following these tips, you can make your Airbnb stand out from the rest and
attract more guests! With a little effort, you can create a stylish and inviting space
that will make your guests feel at home and draw them back again.
